This box, so elegant, so deceptively delicate, had eyes that had seen dark and light, love and hate, life and death, all of those things passing it by in a single instant, as the box knew no time. And it lay peaceful. Waiting.
Oh how beautiful. Stare at it. So masterfully formed, painted with colors only gods should know. But it was ruined. It had been for a very, very long time, and its beauty only existed when eyes befell it.

But the freedom! The kaleidoscope is pulled away, and the truth remains. Solemn. Dark. Forboding. But, damn, it's the truth.
No multicolored hexagons dot its surface; No false, blinding brightness. But that's the real reality, and I find myself there more often than not.
... What I wouldn't give to have the kaleidoscope back.
